Meanwhile, Sonmez, the 24-year-old ranked 53rd in the world, also had moments of excellent form and landed several beautiful winners, including a powerful backhand that drew applause from tennis fans throughout the stadium.Sonmez started to find her footing better in the second set, immediately breaking G auff's serve after Gauff had broken her first, and began to put pressure on the fourth seed with deep strokes and close-to-the-net attacks.
