Bangkok:The Commerce Ministry is taking action to support flood recovery efforts by deploying mobile "Blue Flag" flood relief vehicles to 20 locations throughout Bangkok. These vehicles will deliver affordable goods to aid residents in rebuilding their homes after recent flooding.
According to Thai News Agency, the government has initiated the "Thai Helps Thai Blue Flag Flood Relief" program, which provides discounts of up to 62% on essential goods. This initiative, overseen by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Ms. Supajee Suthamphan, is part of a broader effort involving over 3,000 cost-of-living reduction projects nationwide.
The Department of Internal Trade, collaborating with manufacturers and the private sector, is ensuring that consumer goods and cleaning supplies are available at reduced prices. From October 9-18, 2026, twenty sales points across Bangkok will offer these discounted products, easing the financial burden on citizens during the post-flood recovery period.
Mobile sales units are being deployed to two flood-affected communities daily, operating from 900 AM to 800 PM. They offer over 30 items across 10 categories, including food, household goods, and cleaning supplies, making it convenient for residents to purchase necessities close to home. Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, Mr. Wattanasak Suea-iam, visited one such sales area in Lat Krabang District on October 10, 2026.
Discounted items include 5 kg of jasmine rice at 120 baht, 30 mixed size eggs at 110 baht, 1 kg of sugar at 22 baht, and 1 liter of palm oil at 42 baht. Discounts extend up to 58% for daily necessities, 44% for personal hygiene products, 51% for laundry products, and 42% for food items, with household cleaning supplies discounted up to 62%.
The Ministry of Commerce is also planning to expand the "Thai Helps Thai, Reduce Living Costs" project with a three-month pilot program from October to December 2026, encompassing 3,036 events nationwide. These activities will begin on October 16, 2026, with 300 events in Bangkok and 2,736 events across 76 provinces, providing ongoing access to affordable essential goods.
The Department of Internal Trade is coordinating with manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, and businesses to ensure an adequate supply of goods and to monitor prices, preventing gouging. The public can find information about sales events on the Department of Internal Trade's website and Facebook page. Instances of unfair pricing or non-disclosure of prices can be reported through the hotline 1569 or provincial commerce offices.
