Bangkok: The Department of Mineral Resources has issued an urgent warning to 13 provinces to stay vigilant against potential landslides and flash floods. This alert is effective from today until July 3rd, urging the public and local authorities in the affected areas to remain on high alert.
According to Thai News Agency, the provinces under warning include Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Tak, Phitsanulok, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, and Trang. The Department of Mineral Resources, under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, has emphasized the need for continuous monitoring of rainfall by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) network in these provinces.
Residents in these areas are advised to stay updated with weather information and rainfall data, particularly in regions experiencing heavy rainfall surpassing 100 mm within a 24-hour period. They are encouraged to relocate personal belongings, livestock, and other valuables to higher ground or safer locations. In addition, the public should watch for warning indicators such as muddy water and floating debris, and refrain from crossing waterways, walking through streams, or engaging in fishing activities.
The Geohazard Operations Center has committed to closely monitoring the situation to provide timely updates and ensure public safety.
