Bangkok: The Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has vowed to seek justice regarding his career advancement, expressing his determination to challenge the current promotion process within the police force. This comes amidst his assertion that promotions should reflect actual performance.
According to Thai News Agency, the Deputy Commissioner, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew, has made a strong stand by stating his willingness to resort to extreme measures to ensure fairness. He emphasized that any decisions made during the National Police Commission's meeting on August 31st must be accompanied by valid reasons if they result in his transfer.
Dr. Supree Wongdeeprom, Vice President of the Emergency Medical Foundation, alongside representatives from the Life Vaccine for Society course, showed their support by presenting a bouquet to Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat. As an alumnus, he has called for transparency and fairness in the police officer appointment process.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat further explained that the postponement of the National Police Commission's meeting was not solely due to his petition but also because other officers have raised similar concerns. Despite this, he remains committed to his role, particularly in investigating corruption cases, and insists that his actions do not violate any disciplinary codes.
He underlined that promotions should be based on genuine performance, not influenced by personal relationships or political motives, and urged superiors to conduct fair interviews for eligible candidates. He also addressed past allegations regarding his promotions, clarifying that his advancement was based on his capabilities, not favoritism.
As the upcoming National Police Commission meeting approaches, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat stresses that any potential transfer must come with a comprehensive explanation, given the numerous critical corruption cases still under his bureau's jurisdiction.
