Bangkok: "Big Tao" has unveiled that the financial resources linked to former Phra Alongkot could potentially soar to ten billion baht, following the discovery of an extensive network. The Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has indicated that all parties involved, including celebrities, influencers, and politicians, will face prosecution.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat Pankaew, the Deputy Commissioner of the Central Investigation Bureau, provided updates on the legal proceedings against the networks associated with "Dr. B" and the former monk Alongkot. He stated that the police continue to receive information from various individuals, including a committee member from the Lopburi Sri Suvarnabhumi Buddhist Foundation, who are believed to have witnessed misconduct and participated in financial dealings.
The police have gathered substantial information, though they may need to secure additional financial records to substantiate their findings. The network operates under the corporate name "Alangkatakan Lakorn," with personnel responsible for managing and collecting funds at different levels. An official press conference will be convened once the police achieve comprehensive clarity on the situation. Meanwhile, authorities are urged to maintain their efforts to ensure a complete understanding of the matter.
Addressing speculations about the involvement of celebrities or influencers in the financial affairs related to the temple and its network, Pol. Maj. Gen. Charoonkiat affirmed that the police intend to prosecute all involved parties. This includes anyone benefiting from or associated with the temple's financial dealings, regardless of their public status. The former Phra Alongkot's nationwide collection of donations sets this case apart from other temples, which typically receive localized contributions. Consequently, the implications are far-reaching, with potential damages escalating into tens of billions of baht. The police aim to extend their investigation to set a precedent for other temples engaged in analogous conduct.
