Bangkok: The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has undertaken a significant restructuring effort, assigning Anthony Hudson to assist in selecting a new Technical Director to enhance the national team's performance.
According to Thai News Agency, the decision was made during the 13th/2025 Executive Committee meeting, which was convened urgently by the association. The meeting aimed to address shortcomings that led to unmet targets across men's football, women's football, men's futsal, and women's futsal at the upcoming 33rd SEA Games 2025, which Thailand will host. As part of the restructuring, Hudson, the head coach of the Thai national senior team, has been tasked with considering a foreign candidate for the Technical Director position.
The Technical Director's responsibilities will focus on developing Thai national athletes, particularly at the youth level. This role involves analyzing athlete performance using statistical data and scientific processes. The director will collaborate closely with Hudson to develop consistent training methods and playing styles across all ages and genders, building on existing initiatives like FIFA TDS Talent ID and the U-17 youth league competition organized with Coca-Cola from 2026 to 2028.
In addition, the association is looking to appoint a head coach for the Thai men's national U-20 team swiftly to prepare for the 2026 ASEAN U-19 Championship in June and the 2026 AFC U-20 Championship qualifiers in August.
