Bangkok: A gang that scammed people by selling fake BTS concert tickets has been arrested. They confessed to using 800,000 baht to buy luxury goods and travel abroad.

The suspects exploited the high demand for BTS concert tickets by creating fake Facebook pages and X application accounts to advertise fraudulent tickets to fans. Over 100 victims were deceived into transferring money, resulting in damages exceeding 800,000 baht. Initially, the suspects confessed to being part of a group hired to open fake accounts, claiming they were recruited through online job groups to handle money transfers in the form of gift envelopes, receiving 200-2,000 baht per transaction. They later discovered that the money was from the fraudulent concert ticket sales. Another suspect admitted to creating the fake pages and social media accounts, using the 800,000 baht obtained from the victims for personal expenses, including traveling abroad and purchasing luxury goods such as designer handbags.
