General

Den Chai: Grandson can’t stand it anymore! Uncle drunk, causing a loud tantrum and even trying to hurt him in the bedroom, grabs a gun and shoots him dead in the house.

According to Thai News Agency, the police inspected the scene of the crime inside a house in Den Chai District, Phrae Province. In front of the stairs leading up to the house, they found the body of Mr. Atthasit or Mack, 43 years old, shirtless, wearing camouflage cropped pants, with six gunshot wounds from a 12 mm. shotgun scattered across his chest. The gunman was Mr. A (assumed name), 19 years old, the deceased’s nephew, who did not run away. He was waiting to surrender at the scene. He was also the person who went to inform the village headman to call an ambulance to help his seriously injured uncle, but he died before the officers arrived.

The mother of the deceased said that she was not at home at the time of the incident because her son was making loud noises. She was afraid and ran away to the house across the street. She suspected that her son went up to cause trouble for her grandson who was sleeping upstairs. Normally, her son was hot-tempered and liked to destroy things regularly. Every time he took drugs, no one dared to come near him. As for her grandson, he went to work in another province and just returned home in the evening. She did not know that her grandson had a gun and did not want to press charges.

The village headman of Village No. 3, Ban Huai Lak Puen, said that the shooter ran to his house to call an ambulance and waited to surrender to the police. He also told them that he had an argument with his aunt, so he was defending himself. He did not know the cause, but the deceased had a hot temper, liked to destroy things, and often threatened his parents. He had a drug problem. He had tried to take him to rehab, but he refused and did not admit to taking drugs. If they had an argument, the deceased’s mother would hide in the house across the street. Initially, the police took Mr. A (assumed name) for questioning at Huai Rai Police Station before pressing charges.
