Investigation Expands to Private Hospitals in “Fake Parents” Scam

Bangkok: Authorities are preparing to expand the investigation to five reputable private hospitals implicated in the "fake parents" scam gang. Police are focusing on hospitals in the Sukhumvit and Bang Rak areas suspected of involvement in the "fake birth registration" scheme, after finding documents certifying paternity pre-signed at these locations.

According to Thai News Agency, Police Major General Teerachai Chamnanmo, Deputy Commander of the Forensic Science Division, revealed progress in the case, stating that 40 arrest warrants have been issued. These warrants encompass groups of government officials, district office staff, hospital staff, and the parents involved in the alleged fraudulent Chinese-Thai child scheme. The investigation now includes reputable private hospitals where documents such as the birth certificate (Tor.1/1) and the child certification document (Por.Kor.14) with pre-signed father's signatures were discovered. Authorities are preparing to summon all involved parties, including medical and district office staff, for questioning.

In the case of Mr. Prachuab, a nominee of China Railway Company, who testified as the father of two children, DNA tests indicated no biological relationship. Consequently, the Ministry of Interior plans to revoke Thai citizenship from the involved Chinese children, beginning with 19 children from the first group of suspects.
