Ishikawa: Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture is leveraging characters from the popular anime and video game "Pok©mon" to boost tourism following the destruction caused by an earthquake.
According to Thai News Agency, the initiative involves redecorating Ishikawa Prefectural Airport with Pok©mon characters, a project supported by the Pok©mon with You Foundation. The airport will be renamed "Noto Satoyama Pok©mon with You Airport" as part of efforts to create an engaging environment that draws visitors back to the region.
Governor Yukiyoshi Yamano revealed that the transformation will commence on July 7th. This initiative forms part of a broader campaign to revive the local economy by reigniting interest in the prefecture. The newly themed airport will not only feature Pok©mon decorations but will also offer unique Pok©mon-themed menus in its restaurants. The campaign's primary objective is to uplift the spirits of local children and gradually attract tourists, thereby fostering economic growth in the aftermath of the earthquake in January 2024.
The tourism promotion campaign is slated to run for three years, providing ample opportunity to restore and enhance the area's tourism industry.
