JIC Thailand Refutes Cambodia’s Allegations of Sovereignty Violation

Bangkok: "Thailand's Joint Inspector General (JIC)" has firmly rejected accusations made by Cambodia, asserting that there has been no breach of sovereignty and emphasizing that all operations were conducted in line with the Joint Convention (GBC).

According to Thai News Agency, Air Chief Marshal Praphas Sonjaidee, who heads the Joint Information Center for the Thai-Cambodian Situation, responded to a press release from Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The release accused Thailand of infringing on Cambodia's sovereignty and territorial integrity through activities along their shared border.

The Thai-Cambodian Situation Information Center has assured that Thailand's actions are fully compliant with the framework and guidelines established in the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Session of the General Border Committee (GBC) dated December 27, 2025. These guidelines include maintaining troop deployment to manage the situation, ensuring security, reducing tensions, and preventing military confrontations. The Center reiterated that these actions are crucial for stabilizing the region and will not interfere with the border surveying and demarcation efforts.

Thailand categorically denies the conclusions drawn in Cambodia's press release, which claimed that Thailand's actions breached Cambodia's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Thai government insists that both nations should engage in bilateral discussions, fact-finding, and constructive problem-solving instead of making unilateral public accusations.

Thailand remains dedicated to upholding joint agreements, seeking peaceful resolutions, and ensuring the safety of the border populace. The Thai authorities urge all parties to honor the joint statement and the mechanisms agreed upon, and to refrain from misrepresenting or interpreting facts in a biased manner, which could hinder de-escalation efforts and collaborative problem-solving.
