Bangkok: Joe Chaiwat, the prospective Bangkok gubernatorial candidate from the People’s Party, announced that all 50 Bangkok City Council members have an action plan and are ready to start working immediately. Joe Chaiwat revealed that the People’s Party’s team of Bangkok City Council members in all 50 districts has an action plan ready to start working immediately.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaiwat Sathavorawichit arrived by electric bus with his campaign team, including Mr. Viroj Lakkhanaadisorn and Ms. Piangphan Boonklam, along with a team of prospective Bangkok City Council candidates. A large group of supporters met him upon his arrival. Mr. Chaiwat expressed his expectations for the election, stating that the decision lies with Bangkok residents regarding his gubernatorial candidacy. He emphasized his duty to do his best and use the election opportunity to present his agenda for developing Bangkok’s future over the next four years, and the future of its 50 districts for the following four years. He hopes voters will choose both the City Council candidates and the governor from the People’s Party to facilitate the implementation of his work with the City Council.
When visiting each district to identify urgent problems, Mr. Chaiwat noted that while Bangkok faces many pressing issues, the focus should be on structural and systemic problems. Alongside addressing routine concerns like drain cleaning and sidewalk maintenance, tackling corruption remains a priority. The People’s Party has developed a system called “Bangkok Transparent AI Anti-Corruption,” aiming to address corruption at its roots, from budget allocation to determining fair value before proposing projects to the Bangkok City Council.
Regarding the potential collaboration with a governor from another party or group, Mr. Chaiwat stated their past collaborations have always demonstrated the possibility. However, he emphasized that if Bangkok residents choose an agenda focusing on easier management, welfare orientation, reducing inequality, and providing opportunities, they should elect both a governor and City Council members representing the people. He mentioned that all 50 districts have agendas ready and have already submitted their Action Plans. The campaign adopted the slogan “Simple Bangkok,” initially reducing campaign signs to demonstrate simplicity. However, campaign signs for City Council members remain to avoid confusion among voters, given the 50 council members in 50 districts. The number of signs has been significantly reduced, and vinyl banners have been added in community areas. They also engage in door-to-door outreach to distribute leaflets and brochures, especially to the elderly.
In contrast, Dr. M.L. Korkasivath Kasemsri, known as “Mom Korn,” registered as an independent candidate for the Bangkok gubernatorial election. He expressed his readiness to manage Bangkok seamlessly, highlighting persistent issues such as air and water pollution, waste, traffic, the economy, cost of living, and corruption. His approach focuses on addressing corruption from the outset, aiming to make Bangkok safe in all aspects.
