Khon kaen: The Provincial Administration of Khon Kaen is taking proactive steps to ensure low-income individuals receive government-sponsored benefits by conducting door-to-door visits to verify eligibility.
According to Thai News Agency, administrative officials from Mueang Khon Kaen district, in collaboration with village headmen and community leaders, are directly assisting citizens in confirming their eligibility for state welfare benefits. This initiative was launched after it was discovered that many individuals lack internet access and mobile phone skills, hindering their ability to complete the necessary processes independently.
Mr. Sirapop Srireung, Deputy District Chief of Mueang Khon Kaen, stated that this operation aligns with the policy of the Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration to support citizens in verifying their eligibility for state welfare benefits. In the Mueang Khon Kaen district alone, there are 5,263 eligible individuals across 18 sub-districts, with over 1,200 people having successfully completed the process so far. Many citizens face challenges such as a lack of time to stay informed, internet access, and necessary equipment, prompting the coordination with local leaders and officials to assist with information dissemination and the registration process.
Ms. Phairin Kotluecha, assistant village head of Moo 8, Sawathi Subdistrict, explained that she received a list of eligible individuals from the district office to conduct field surveys and monitor residents' statuses before scheduling appointments for eligibility confirmation. The majority of those eligible are elderly and unable to navigate the online process alone, thus requiring assistance from community leaders and officials. She noted that they have managed to assist nearly all residents in the area.
Ms. Somjit Wirachai, a resident of Village 8, Sawathi Subdistrict, expressed gratitude for the continued receipt of state welfare benefits and thanked officials for their assistance, as she was unable to process the application via mobile phone. She emphasized that these benefits have significantly reduced household expenses.
Meanwhile, Ms. Somnuan Daosawa, another resident of Village 8, Sawathi Subdistrict, reported previously receiving state welfare benefits but encountered an issue with her eligibility being overlooked. She approached the community leader to provide information, hoping the matter would be investigated by the district office. She acknowledged the importance of the state welfare program in alleviating living costs for low-income citizens.
Ms. Ubol Saengsuwan, a local resident, expressed concern about her eligibility for the new round of benefits due to her child's use of her name for tax deductions. Despite potential disqualification, she accepted the situation and urged the government to continue supporting low-income citizens. She appealed to the Prime Minister, requesting assistance for those in need and expressing her hope not to be disqualified.
