Bangkok: A young man of Shan ethnicity is demanding justice after being assaulted by delivery riders who mistakenly identified him as the person who canceled an order. The incident occurred in a dormitory in the Huamark area on April 12th. The victim, identified as Mr. Min Sailon, a 30-year-old migrant worker, reported the assault to Huamark Police Station.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Min Sailon approached Mr. Ekkapop Lueangprasert, the founder of the "Sai Mai Must Survive" Facebook page, to file a complaint today, as he fears his status as a migrant worker might hinder his pursuit of justice. Mr. Min explained that his wife had ordered linoleum flooring, which was paid for on April 1st. On April 10th, a delivery rider contacted him to verify the payment, and Mr. Min provided a payment slip as proof. Despite this, the rider called again the next day, accusing Mr. Min of ordering and canceling the product.
The situation escalated on April 12th when the delivery rider confronted Mr. Min at his apartment, leading to an argument and threats. Mr. Min fled to safety but was later called down by the apartment manager to resolve the issue. Upon his return, he was assaulted by the group. Investigations revealed that the order was placed under a different name and contact number, and the attackers offered no apology or responsibility once their mistake was realized.
Ekaphop Lueangprasert informed reporters that investigators at Huamark Police Station are coordinating with the superintendent to expedite legal actions against those involved. He emphasized that Thai law offers equal protection to everyone, irrespective of nationality, and assured that there would be no discrimination in handling the case.
