Bangkok: The Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) has traced the source of heroin supplied to a flight attendant, confirming it originated from the Golden Triangle. Using Thailand as a key packing and transfer point, the NSB is pressing forward with efforts to dismantle the network and has scheduled a press conference for later this afternoon.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Areephak Ngernbamrung, Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) and ONCB spokesperson, announced an operation targeting drug trafficking networks nationwide. The operation revealed a network connected to the Golden Triangle, with some members implicated in the flight attendant's case. A press conference is scheduled for this afternoon to address these developments.
The arrest of a sedan driver suspected of delivering heroin to the flight attendant in Soi Rangnam is under investigation. However, officials noted it is a separate case from Ms. Meena's. The NSB is working swiftly to clarify the network's operations, aiming to capture the sedan driver using Bangkok's extensive CCTV network.
The investigation's primary objective is to dismantle the drug trafficking network and trace its routes, which channel drugs from Thailand to Australia. Couriers, referred to as "pilots," transit drugs to temporary locations for export. The ONCB has gathered intelligence on these routes and collaborators, and is collaborating with Australian authorities to enhance the investigation.
Authorities are also probing why the flight attendant, deceived by a Facebook page "Rose Rose," agreed to transport luggage across borders despite strict airline regulations. The Australian authorities are compiling statements to forward to the Thai Narcotics Control Board (TNCB).
The NSB highlighted their knowledge of the drug operation's origin and the cloth bag involved in the flight attendant's case. While details remain confidential, they confirmed the heroin's foreign origin and are tracing its entry routes. The NSB is committed to unveiling details once investigations yield results.
The delivery of the package and related communications have been scrutinized, with CCTV confirming the package's delivery on June 22nd. The flight attendant engaged in conversations with the employer since early June, which continued until the package's delivery was arranged.
There is also speculation that the flight attendant may have misrepresented her travel history to Australian authorities, claiming it was her first time carrying goods. However, records show it was her 14th trip to Australia, prompting further investigation into her previous activities.
