Bangkok: Nattapong opened the forum "Birth, Aging, Sickness, Corruption," pointing out that corruption is eating away at the lives of Thai people from birth to death.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut, Leader of the Opposition in the House of Representatives and Head of the People's Party, initiated the 'Opposition Leaders' Forum: Birth, Aging, Sickness, Corruption.' This forum aims to reflect on the pervasive issue of corruption in Thailand while proposing potential solutions. Mr. Nattapong emphasized how corruption impacts all Thai citizens throughout their lives, inspiring the forum's title, "Birth, Aging, Sickness, Corruption." The event seeks to systematically analyze corruption through the lens of life stories, illustrating its detrimental effects on individuals and the nation from birth to death.
The forum categorizes corruption into five distinct groups that affect Thai citizens' lives. Group 1 involves corruption that undermines the rights of the Thai people. Group 2 includes instances where individuals pay unnecessarily or excessively. Group 3 consists of people indirectly impacted, bearing the consequences of corrupt practices. Group 4 refers to offenders who pay to evade responsibility, while Group 5 encompasses those who pay to gain undeserved benefits. Mr. Nattapong expressed that these classifications aim to highlight strategies to tackle corruption, which permeates all aspects of life.
The forum is structured into three parts. The first segment presents 'Birth-Aging-Sickness-Corruption: What do Thais have to pay for being born into this world?' The second part features a panel discussion on 'How do we escape this vicious cycle?' Subsequently, 'Corruption Behaviors' will be presented, culminating with a keynote address by Mr. Nattapong Ruangpanyawut on 'Solving Thailand's Three-Tiered Corruption Problem.'
