Bangkok: Nirat Pongsitthithavorn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and Acting Director-General of the Department of Local Administration, has reiterated that the number of individuals who cheated on the local government exams remains unchanged at 5,925. He confirmed that those who passed the exams honestly will be notified of their status within August.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Nirat addressed the Local Administration Commission, revealing that the meeting would review outcomes from the previous meeting on July 17th. Candidates were categorized into three groups: those who passed honestly, those with adjusted scores who have already been appointed, and those whose scores were improved post-exam. The meeting aimed to decide on the future actions for each group.
The second group, whose scores have been adjusted and who have already been appointed, is under consideration for potential termination or dismissal from government service. Once a decision is reached, the Provincial Committee will be informed to develop measures before communicating them at the local level.
Mr. Nirat clarified that no obstacles have arisen since the Prime Minister assigned him to handle the case, which was previously delayed due to internal issues within the Civil Service Commission (CSC). The process is advancing in accordance with legal frameworks. Furthermore, Mr. Nirat highlighted the distinction between the committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan, focusing on individuals directly involved in the alleged misconduct, and the CSC, which concentrates on administrative matters, examinations, and recruitment processes.
He concluded by reaffirming that those who passed the exam honestly will receive notification about their appointments within August, and the count of exam cheaters remains at 5,925.
