Operation “Shining a Light on the Dark Side”: Police Crack Down on Pubs Allowing Minors Under 20 Years Old to Enter

Bueng kan: The Central Investigation Bureau launched an operation to expose dark corners, raiding a pub that allowed minors under 20 years old to enter. Pol. Maj. Gen. Witthaya Sriprasertphap, Commander of the Anti-Human Trafficking Division, along with related officers, arrested Mr. Apichai, 27 years old, for offenses including operating an entertainment venue without a license, selling alcoholic beverages to individuals under the age of 20, and inducing, encouraging, or allowing a child to engage in inappropriate behavior or behavior that could lead to the child committing offenses under the Child Protection Act. The arrest took place at an entertainment venue in Seka Subdistrict, Seka District, Bueng Kan Province.

According to Thai News Agency, following an inspection of entertainment venues to prevent them from becoming gathering places for minors and from selling alcohol to those under 20, police discovered an unlicensed, single-story establishment in Seka Subdistrict, Seka District. Inside, loud music and bright lights were playing, and alcohol was being sold to patrons. Several patrons appeared to be minors under 20. Upon raiding the premises, over 300 patrons were found, 49 of whom were under 20, the youngest being 13 years old. The owner, Mr. Apichai, 27, was found to be operating without a valid business license. He was subsequently handed over to Seka Police Station for legal proceedings.
