Bangkok: The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the National Council of Women of Thailand awarded plaques of honor to outstanding Thai women in a ceremony that highlighted the pivotal role of women in the nation's cultural preservation, economic development, and societal advancement.
According to Thai News Agency, the event was organized to commemorate 2026 Thai Women's Day and was held under the theme "The Queen Mother, Residing in a Heavenly Abode: Thai Women Pledge to Continue the Arts and Crafts of the Nation." This theme pays homage to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, who established August 1st as Thai Women's Day. Mr. Kantapong Rangsisawang, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, and Mrs. Lalivan Kanjanachari, President of the National Council of Women of Thailand, presented honorary plaques to both outstanding Thai women and young Thai women.
The President of the National Council emphasized the Council's mission to recognize and celebrate exceptional Thai women. This year, Associate Professor Dr. Sasithorn Mahakunachirakul was among the awardees, recognized for her contributions both as a businesswoman and as an associate judge at the Juvenile and Family Court of Ratchaburi Province. Dr. Sasithorn expressed that the award motivates her continued work in supporting children, youth, and families, underscoring the significant impact women have in advancing various national initiatives.
The event also included an exhibition highlighting the contributions and potential of Thai women on the national and international stages. It featured displays of Thai fabrics and handicrafts, showcasing the rich local wisdom from across the country's regions.
