Bangkok: Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan has disclosed that the results of the first phase of the investigation into cheating in local government entrance exams will be finalized this afternoon. The announcement comes ahead of the second meeting of the fact-finding and legal committee, which is tasked with examining corruption in the 2025 civil service and local government recruitment examination (2/2026). This crucial meeting will be chaired by the Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police.
According to Thai News Agency, the meeting, scheduled for this afternoon, will provide a preliminary summary of the investigation's findings, including any concerning discoveries. The initial report is expected to be submitted to the Prime Minister, with further reports to address identified loopholes. Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn noted that he had not yet reviewed the findings and would provide more details after the meeting to maintain the integrity of the ongoing process.
Pol. Col. Yutthana Praedam, Director-General of the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), has emphasized the agency's role in examining fraud charges associated with the local government entrance exam. He mentioned that if the case is classified as a special case, it would involve multiple units to ensure a comprehensive investigation. Although queried about a potential report submission to Mr. Pakorn on July 15th, Pol. Col. Yutthana clarified that the investigation is currently separate from the Central Investigation Bureau's efforts, focusing solely on fraudulent activities. Should the case be elevated to a special status, the DSI will also investigate the financial trail involved in the corruption.
