Police Escort Suspect for Crime Reenactment at Sukhumvit Mall Gold Shop

Bangkok: Police took the suspect in the robbery of 198 baht worth of gold to a gold shop in a well-known shopping mall in Sukhumvit 50 to reenact the crime as part of his confession. He claimed he committed the crime because of his gambling addiction.

According to Thai News Agency, police escorted Mr. Chalo, also known as Thiw, to reenact the robbery. He admitted that he had scouted the gold shop the previous day, opting for it due to its deserted state. On the day of the crime, he noticed the door was slightly open, which allowed him to slip inside. Once inside, he threatened the employees with a gun and stole the gold before making his escape.

The gun, later found discarded by a canal bank, was a fake. Mr. Chalo used it during the robbery to support his gambling habit, as he intended to use the stolen gold for gambling purposes. Police are currently taking him to the Prawet area, where he claimed to have found the fake gun.
