Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul Directs Economic Cabinet to Implement Private Sector Proposals

Bangkok: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has instructed the Economic Cabinet to implement proposals from the private sector and to report on the progress periodically. He also assigned Pakorn Karnasuta to coordinate with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to continue the fight against corruption and scammers.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced the Prime Minister's directives after the Cabinet meeting. She stated that following the government's "Entrepreneurs Speak, Government Listens" event on May 15th, which provided a platform for entrepreneurs from 10 industries to express their opinions, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of this issue. He affirmed that listening to entrepreneurs' voices is not solely for the benefit of businesses, but that if the business sector can move forward and grow, it will lead to job creation and income for the people, benefiting all sectors of the system. Therefore, based on these proposals, the Prime Minister instructed relevant agencies to establish a monitoring framework for how these proposals are implemented within 30, 60, or 90 days, through the Cabinet's economic mechanism and joint meetings of the National Economic and Social Council (NESC). He stressed the need for action in four areas: in frastructure, water, and clean energy, assigning the National Water Resources Management Committee (NWRC), the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Energy as the lead agencies.

Regarding workforce skills development to support AI and digitalization, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation and the Ministry of Labour have been assigned to push forward the recommendations, and other relevant agencies must collaborate. For promoting new target industries, the Ministry of Finance and the Board of Investment (BOI) are the lead agencies. Regarding reducing obstacles to permits and utilizing state land effectively, the Office of the Civil Service Commission, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Finance, and other relevant agencies are assigned to implement these measures. Concerning the fight against corruption, the Prime Minister has assigned Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan to coordinate with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) and other relevant agencies. It was confirmed at the meeting that this is a key policy and that significant progress has been made in combating corruption, transnational crime, and scammers.
