Kuala lumpur: The Thai Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, encouraged Thai business operators in Malaysia to listen to their proposals for expanding business opportunities and emphasized mutual growth across all sectors. Today, at 5:30 PM (Malaysian local time, which is one hour ahead of Thailand), at the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul met with representatives of the Thai private sector in Malaysia. Following the meeting, Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister, revealed the key points as follows:According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister thanked Thai private sector businesses in Malaysia for helping to promote the friendship between the two countries. The government prioritizes supporting the business operations of Thai private sector companies, which are a key force in connecting the economies, trade, investment, and close ties between Thailand and Malaysia, while also looking after Thai citizens abroad.The Pri me Minister emphasized that the government is ready to fully support Thai private sector businesses in Malaysia, including coordinating with relevant agencies, resolving business obstacles, facilitating trade, investment, labor, and other issues that will enhance competitiveness and create opportunities for growth for Thai businesses in Malaysia.The Prime Minister further stated that this meeting was a great opportunity for the government to hear feedback directly from the private sector. This feedback can be considered in developing and implementing concrete support measures that address the needs of businesses, thereby enhancing the capabilities of Thai entrepreneurs and strengthening economic cooperation between Thailand and Malaysia.The discussions were attended by representatives from various sectors of the Thai private sector in Malaysia, including energy, finance, retail, food, industrial goods, logistics, services, and banking. The private sector commended the government's policies, particularly t hose promoting connectivity via roads and rail, as well as the opening of the Sadao border crossing between the Thai and Malaysian Prime Ministers, which has facilitated the transportation of food, raw materials, and tourism. However, the private sector noted issues that the Thai government will continue to discuss, such as tax incentives, promoting the import of Thai labor into Malaysia, and importing food and agricultural products from Thailand, especially establishing mutual recognition of standards such as Halal certification.If the discussions lead to a mutually beneficial agreement, it will greatly enhance the competitiveness of Thai private sector businesses, Thai brands, Thai agricultural products, and Thai labor.The Prime Minister instructed the Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur to gather details of the problems and obstacles. Today, I am pleased to receive a direct report from the business operators. Many issues have already been discussed and agreed upon at the leadership level.Any aspects t hat have not yet been discussed will be referred to the Royal Thai Embassy for consultation with the relevant Malaysian agencies. These issues will also be discussed at the bilateral working group level, which has been established in each area, and subsequently presented to the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the Joint Commission (JC) meeting.
