Bangkok: The Prime Minister has established a committee to investigate allegations of corruption in the 2025 local government recruitment exam, with immediate effect. He has mandated that reports be submitted every 10 days and has set a 30-day deadline for a conclusive outcome.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has called for a thorough investigation into the alleged corruption. The investigation aims to ensure transparency and accountability at every stage, with results that are clearly explainable to the public. Anutin Charnvirakul has signed Prime Minister's Office Order No. 263/2569, appointing a committee to investigate the facts and legal aspects of the alleged corruption. This committee is empowered to conduct a rigorous investigation and examine all facets of the case, with a report due to the government within a specified timeframe.
The committee, led by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilapraphan and with the Minister of Justice as vice-chairman, is responsible for investigating the facts and legal aspects of the case. They are required to submit a report to the Prime Minister within 30 days of July 6, 2026, along with progress reports every 10 days.
The government has stressed the importance of a strict, clear, and transparent process to fully address public concerns. This initiative aims to serve as a lesson for strengthening preventative and supervisory measures, and for building long-term public trust in the government system.
