Prime Minister Joins Royal Ceremony for Deceased Monks in Ubon Ratchathani

Ubon ratchathani: The Prime Minister attended the royal ceremony for the bathing of the bodies of seven Buddhist monks from Ubon Ratchathani. The ceremony took place at Wat Nam Khun, located in Nam Khun District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.

According to Thai News Agency, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul was accompanied by Minister of Culture Sabida Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of Digital Economy and Society Nan Bunthida Somchai, and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior Arsit Sampanrat. They participated in the royal bathing ceremony to honor the seven deceased monks. The Prime Minister extended financial assistance and offered words of encouragement to the bereaved families.

The tragic incident occurred on July 2nd when a pickup truck driven by an 11-year-old boy collided with a procession of monks. The group was on a pilgrimage from Wat Roi Phra Phutthabat Phu Manorom in Mukdahan Province to Uthayan Thammathat Luang Monastery in Nam Khun District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The accident took place on Ban Na Si Nuan Road, Mueang District, Mukdahan Province.

The Mukdahan Provincial Public Health Office provided the latest update, confirming that the accident resulted in 10 fatalities. In addition to the deceased, two individuals were transferred to Sappasit Prasong Hospital in Ubon Ratchathani for treatment. Seven others remain hospitalized at Mukdahan Hospital, while three have been discharged.
