Prime Minister to Launch 30 Billion Baht Loan Program for Farmers in Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya: The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Ayutthaya on July 3rd to launch a 30 billion baht loan program with a "half-interest" rate to reduce costs for farmers. Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul will preside over the opening of the "Half-Interest Loan Project to Reduce Production Costs" at the Agricultural Cooperative for Marketing Customers of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

According to Thai News Agency, the initiative aims to enhance agricultural efficiency by providing low-interest funding to farmers. The Prime Minister will also receive updates on the project's progress, visit exhibition booths, and observe agricultural technology demonstrations, such as the use of drones for fertilizer application. This project, implemented according to a Cabinet resolution, seeks to reduce production costs and improve efficiency by offering loans with a government-subsidized interest rate of 3 percent, leaving farmers with a 3 percent interest burden annually. It covers seven key cash crops and includes reskilling and upskilling training for participants.

Following the Ayutthaya visit, the Prime Minister will return to Bangkok to chair the 2nd meeting of the Committee on Narcotics Prevention and Suppression for 2026. The meeting will review progress on addressing the drug problem through suppression, prevention, and comprehensive rehabilitation efforts, aiming for tangible results.
