Bangkok: "Rakchanok" has expressed strong confidence that "Dr. Joe" is the best choice among candidates for the upcoming Bangkok gubernatorial election, simultaneously preparing to summon the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to address the issue surrounding exercise equipment.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a party-list MP from the People's Party and chair of the House of Representatives' Budget Study, Preparation, and Monitoring Committee, has highlighted the ongoing controversy regarding Bangkok's budget allocation for exercise equipment, an issue that has surfaced prominently during the Bangkok election campaign. Her committee is deliberating whether to address this matter in a meeting before or after the election to prevent allegations of political manipulation. She assured that Mr. Suphanat Meenchainan, a Bangkok MP from the People's Party, has been vigilantly overseeing this issue throughout the parliamentary sessions.
Ms. Rakchanok called for more sincerity from former Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt and former Deputy Governor Thawida Kamolvech in tackling corruption allegations. She criticized their stance on respecting individuals suspected of corrupt behavior, insisting that respect should instead be directed towards taxpayers. The Budget Monitoring Committee is planning to invite representatives from the BMA to provide explanations and may extend the invitation to the current Bangkok Governor post-election. Addressing concerns about the timing of the People's Party's focus on this issue, she affirmed that continuous efforts have been made to address it, with Mr. Suphanat actively engaging the media and the public.
When questioned about her confidence in Mr. Chaiwat Sathavorawichit, the People's Party's candidate for Bangkok governor, Ms. Rakchanok expressed unwavering confidence in all her colleagues, especially Mr. Chaiwat, whom she considers the optimal choice at present. She is committed to diligent efforts in the campaign's final stages. Regarding the popularity of Mr. Surapol Nitikraipoj, Ms. Rakchanok emphasized her support for the People's Party's strategies as communicated by the party's leadership.
