Pak Chong:Lam Takhong Dam Villagers have been flocking to Lam Takhong Dam in Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, to catch fish as water levels rise.
According to Thai News Agency, the recent increase in water levels is due to nearly a week of continuous rainfall, which has caused a large volume of water to flow into the dam from Khao Yai National Park and several sub-districts. This influx has raised the water level to 183.818 million cubic meters, about 58.45 percent of the dam‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¾¢s total capacity, which is a significant increase from its initial 30 percent capacity.
Aerial views reveal the expanded water coverage area as more water continues to flow from upstream. The increased water levels have resulted in a greater number of fish in the reservoir, prompting villagers to take advantage of the situation. Many have brought various fishing equipment, such as nets and spearfishing gear, to catch fish like tilapia and carp.
Villagers primarily plan to use the fish they catch for household consumption. Additionally, the scene has attracted visitors who enjoy the atmosphere and purchase fresh fish directly from the villagers at prices lower than those in the market.
