Robber Murders Woman Foraging for Mushrooms in Chiang Rai

Mae chan: A robber murdered a 63-year-old woman while she was foraging for mushrooms in the forest, stealing two salung of gold and 2,000 baht in cash. Police from Mae Chan Police Station investigated the death of 63-year-old Mrs. Buakheaw, a resident of Pa Pao village. She was found dead with multiple severe head wounds, possibly inflicted by a sharp object, near a rock and a stream in the community forest of Pa Pao village, Moo 6, Mae Kham Subdistrict, Mae Chan District, Chiang Rai Province.

According to Thai News Agency, the investigation revealed that the deceased left her home at noon on May 28th to forage for mushrooms in the community forest. She did not return home by nightfall. Cash totaling 2,000 baht and a gold necklace weighing 2 salung (approximately 7.5 grams) were missing from her fanny pack, leaving only her mushroom-foraging equipment. Police collected evidence at the scene to trace the perpetrator and bring them to justice.
