Bangkok: Rabiep Rhetoric, a celebrated member of the Village Fund, has transformed her career trajectory using a loan, elevating herself to the status of a national-level artist.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Sukhsomruay Wantaniyakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and Chairperson of the National Village and Urban Community Fund (NVUCO), emphasized the significance of the "Thai Helps Thai: Capital Increase, Half-Interest" project. This initiative, which covers 50% of interest payments, aims to alleviate financial burdens and address debt issues, thereby enhancing the quality of life for grassroots citizens, in line with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul's vision.
A shining example of this initiative's success is the Mor Lam group "Rabiab Wathasilp." The band members, including manager and leader "Father Ae" Pakdee Phollam, effectively utilized the borrowed funds to develop their business and achieve national acclaim. This achievement was highlighted during a presentation to the Prime Minister at the project's launch ceremony at Government House on August 10th, showcasing how low-interest loans can stimulate economic activity and create stable employment at the community level.
Pakdee Phollam shared insights into the band's journey, revealing that the village fund was instrumental in the band's formation. Lacking collateral to secure bank loans, the band members borrowed from the village fund, with each member taking out 20,000 baht, totaling 60,000 baht. This capital was crucial for developing the Mor Lam band, which has since gained widespread fame and recognition.
The village fund not only provided essential financial support but also offered a safe alternative to high-interest informal loans. It plays a pivotal role in fostering folk arts and creating opportunities for younger generations to expand their careers sustainably.
