Sabida Proposes Reshuffle and Extension of Key Ministry of Culture Officials

Bangkok: Sabida Thaiseth, the Minister of Culture, has proposed a reshuffle involving two top officials at the Ministry of Culture, along with extending the term of the Director-General of the Fine Arts Department. The proposed changes aim to better align the ministry's operations with the growing responsibilities in cultural tourism.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Culture submitted the proposal to the Cabinet, outlining the appointment of senior executives in anticipation of new responsibilities. These changes are set to align with the Civil Service Commission's guidelines, facilitating the transfer of tourism responsibilities to the Ministry of Culture. This proposal emphasizes the importance of managing senior personnel considering their knowledge, skills, and expertise to ensure a seamless transition and continuity in administrative functions.

The reshuffle involves the appointment of Ms. Chotika Akrakitsobhakul, currently the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, to the role of Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion. Concurrently, Ms. Yuthika Isarangkun Na Ayutthaya, the current Director-General of the Department of Cultural Promotion, is proposed to take up the position of Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture. These changes are slated to take effect upon the issuance of a Royal Decree.

In addition to the reshuffle, the Ministry has proposed extending the term of Mr. Phanombut Chantharachote, the Director-General of the Fine Arts Department, by one year. This extension, effective from October 1, 2026, is in recognition of his ongoing oversight of significant national tasks, including royal ceremonies and key cultural heritage projects that require his expertise for continuous operation.

Ms. Sabida emphasized that the appointments are in line with the Civil Service Commission's guidelines and part of a broader human resource strategy. This strategic approach aims to advance the Ministry of Culture's objectives efficiently, preparing the ministry for its enhanced role in cultural economics and tourism development.
