Khon kaen: Registration for confirming eligibility for the state welfare card program has begun today, and the process is bustling with activity. Many provinces are seeing a large influx of people confirming their eligibility.
According to Thai News Agency, the atmosphere on the first day of confirming state welfare card eligibility in Khon Kaen province was lively. At the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), officials set up service points to check and facilitate the process for the public, reducing crowding and ensuring quick confirmation. Most elderly people said they came to confirm their identity because they don't have smartphones and their children and grandchildren work outside the area and cannot be there to help. However, many others said they had already successfully registered through the Paotang app, which was convenient and fast, but they came today to help relatives who couldn't confirm their eligibility themselves.
While Mr. Chatchai Sirilai, manager of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), led a team to Satun province to inspect and monitor the implementation of the State Welfare Card registration project, on the first day at the BAAC La-ngu branch, a large number of farmer customers and the public came to receive services. The branch had prepared registration areas, waiting areas, and a queue management system to ensure that the document verification and data entry process was quick and accurate. BAAC encourages those who need services to contact any BAAC branch nationwide or call the Call Center at 0 2555 0555.
The Ministry of Finance reiterated that registration to confirm eligibility for the state welfare card begins today (June 4th) and runs until June 21st. All existing state welfare cardholders must register to confirm their eligibility for the program. There are five registration channels: the Paotang app, the government app, the state welfare card website, Krung Thai Bank ATMs, and registration centers of five banks: 1. Krung Thai Bank, 2. Government Savings Bank, 3. Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC), 4. Government Housing Bank, and 5. Islamic Bank of Thailand. Registration results will be announced on July 17th, and benefits can be utilized starting August 1st.
The new criteria add ineligible individuals for the State Welfare Card: 1. Religious figures; 2. Prisoners; 3. Residents of welfare institutions; 4. Government officials receiving pensions, retirement benefits, or political appointee allowances; 5. Students; 6. Shareholders or company directors; 7. Holders of stock or bond accounts; 8. Holders of life insurance policies valued at 12,000 baht or more; 9. Individuals whose names are used for tax deductions, such as parents or spouses. However, if someone already received the Thai Help Thai Plus (60/40) benefit and subsequently passes the eligibility verification for the State Welfare Card, they will receive the Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40 benefit instead, starting from the announcement of the results on July 17th.
For those who previously received state welfare benefits but had their eligibility revoked, the government is allowing appeals by submitting information to the relevant agencies for review from July 17-31. Regarding the Thai Help Thai Plus 60/40 project, as of 11:00 PM on June 3, total spending had reached 7,316.25 million baht, with 17.8 million people participating.
