Thai Aircraft Technicians Achieve European Certification Milestone

Bangkok: The Civil Aviation Training Center (CATC) has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first and only institution in Thailand to receive European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification as a Maintenance Training and Examination Organisation (Part-147).

According to Thai News Agency, this prestigious certification elevates Thai aircraft technicians to meet stringent European standards, reflecting CATC's capability and readiness to develop world-class aviation professionals.

Ms. Pakkanat Makchuey, the Governor of CATC, highlighted that this achievement is a result of a commitment to elevating aircraft maintenance engineer training to EASA standards, known for being among the most rigorous worldwide. CATC has a longstanding history of providing training in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AMEL) and conducting skill tests for over 65 years, positioning its graduates for international success and global market demand.

CATC's certification as an EASA Part-147 training and examination center enables its Aircraft Maintenance Division to offer specialized training in Gas Turbine Engines (B1) and Avionics (B2). The courses adhere to the European teaching model, featuring a modular curriculum, practical assessments, and instructors with EASA qualifications. Students who complete the program receive an EASA Certificate of Recognition, qualifying them for the Part-66 licensing exam, a gateway to international aviation careers.

In addition to its EASA certification, CATC is a Platinum Member of ICAO, the only Thai institution with such recognition. It holds various certifications from the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and collaborates with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to ensure its curricula meet international standards. This strategic positioning supports Thailand's ambition to become a regional aviation hub, contributing to the country's economic growth and enhancing its global aviation industry standing.
