Bangkok: The case involving a Thai Airways flight attendant arrested for drug smuggling into Australia will proceed according to legal protocols, stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sihasak Phuangketkaew. The flight attendant was detained by Australian authorities on suspicions of drug trafficking, and the legal process is underway.
According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively providing assistance and legal representation to the arrested flight attendant. Mr. Sihasak noted that while the Australian investigation continues, it must adhere to established legal procedures. The flight attendant remains under custody in Australia, unable to depart the country. Addressing concerns about Thailand's image, Mr. Sihasak emphasized the importance of airlines implementing stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Furthermore, Mr. Sihasak indicated that stricter inspections for Thai Airways flights entering Australia are anticipated. When questioned about whether the arrest stemmed from prior intelligence rather than a random check, he suggested that Australia likely had specific information leading to the targeted inspection.
