Thai Boccia Team Targets Gold at 2026 World Championships in Seoul

Bangkok: The Thai national boccia team is gearing up for the 2026 Boccia World Championships in Seoul, South Korea, scheduled to take place from August 24th to September 4th, 2026. The team's primary goal is to secure at least one gold medal, using this tournament as a pivotal preparation phase ahead of the 2026 Asian Para Games in Nagoya, Japan.

According to Thai News Agency, the team features top-ranked players in multiple categories, with "James" Worawut Saeng-ampa, ranked 5th globally in the BC2 class, and "Pele" Pornchok Lapayen in the BC4 class, both poised for individual success. In the team events, "Boy" Wisanu Huadpradit, "Kiew" Pakpoom Linchum, and "Fon" Sattanun Promsiri form the backbone of the squad.

This championship offers a critical opportunity for Thai athletes to evaluate their performance against world-class opponents, including teams from Brazil, Portugal, and England. It will test their tactics, precision, and ability to withstand pressure in international competitions.

After the World Championships, the Thai boccia team will focus on their main objective at the 2026 Asian Para Games in Nagoya, Japan, from October 18-24, 2026. The competition will see strong challenges from China, Indonesia, and Japan, with 11 gold medals up for grabs.
