Bangkok: "Thai Helps Thai Plus" is set to energize the economy and boost tourism by offering discounted train ticket prices at 117 stations across the country. The initiative, which begins today, will be available until September 30, 2026.
According to Thai News Agency, the government is actively encouraging citizens to take advantage of the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" scheme. This initiative is designed to support domestic travel and tourism, thereby stimulating the local economy. The scheme will be operational from July 1st to September 30th, during which passengers can enjoy reduced fares on public rail transportation provided by the State Railway of Thailand.
Ms. Ploytalay Laksameesangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the government is inviting the public to benefit from the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" project. This initiative aims to lower travel costs, promote domestic tourism, stimulate economic activity, and offer a convenient, safe, economical, and environmentally friendly travel option. The discounted train fares are available for use from July 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026.
Eligible individuals can purchase train tickets for all routes and seating classes through the 'Paotang' application at any of the participating 117 train stations. However, this excludes group tickets, monthly passes, and tour tickets. Tickets can only be bought on the day of travel, with unlimited usage within the allocated support amount. The discounts can also be combined with other railway offers, provided they meet the terms and conditions. It's important to note that tickets purchased under this scheme are non-refundable if the passenger decides not to travel.
Ms. Ploytalee further emphasized that the "Thai Helps Thai Plus" project aims to reduce public travel expenses, enhance domestic travel and tourism opportunities, stimulate regional economies, and promote rail public transportation as the preferred travel option due to its convenience, safety, affordability, and eco-friendliness.
