Bangkok: Thailand's national team crushed Hong Kong, guaranteeing their place in the knockout round of the 2026 Asian Games.
According to Thai News Agency, in the men's football event of the 2026 Asian Games, Thailand secured a commanding 5-1 victory over Hong Kong in Group A, Match 2. The match began with Wu Chun Ming of Hong Kong scoring the opening goal in the 14th minute. However, Thailand quickly responded with Thanakrit Chotimueangpak equalizing in the 39th minute.
As the second half progressed, Thailand took control of the match. Pariphan Wongsa scored in the 53rd minute, followed by an own goal from Hong Kong's Sang Yi Hung in the 56th minute, extending Thailand's lead. Che Hanafi Mamat and Worawut Noisri further added to Thailand's tally in the 76th and 84th minutes respectively.
The Thai men's national football team will face Japan in their final group stage game on September 23, 2026, at 5:30 PM Thailand time, at Toyota Stadium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
