Bangkok: The Thai government has announced a strategic partnership with a leading German chip manufacturer to revolutionize vocational education in Thailand, ensuring immediate employment for graduates as the new factory is set to open this October.
According to Thai News Agency, Lieutenant Colonel Patthadarasmi Thongsalooykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that the Ministry of Education has embarked on a strategic cooperation agreement with Infineon Technologies, Germany's largest semiconductor and chip manufacturer. This collaboration aims to elevate Thai vocational education to international standards through a dual vocational education system. The approach, known as Dual TVET, combines theoretical studies with practical work experience, embracing the "Learn to Earn - Study while working" concept.
The agreement marks a significant step in transforming the role of the industry in curriculum design, skills training, and competency standards from classroom to factory. This initiative comes in preparation for Infineon's new factory opening in Thailand on October 1, 2026, which will serve as a major regional production hub for advanced chipsets.
The government's focus is on promoting collaborative curriculum development tailored to industry needs by enhancing the dual vocational education system. The adaptation of the successful German vocational model aims to achieve full collaboration between businesses and educational institutions, developing curricula that meet future industry demands, particularly in advanced technologies. Additionally, the assessment system for vocational skills and student qualifications will undergo reforms to achieve international recognition.
The initiative further promotes the exchange of experts and the introduction of advanced technology in classrooms to develop vocational teachers throughout the system. By offering students internships in Thai-German companies, the program equips them with necessary professional skills, language proficiency, and practical experience, paving the way for immediate employment upon graduation.
