Nakhon nayok: Wild elephants broke down doors and fences at houses in search of fruits and vegetables. According to Thai News Agency, three wild elephants, foraging for fruits and vegetables, caused significant damage in a villager's garden by breaking down a house gate and fence. The incident, captured by CCTV footage, occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 5 AM, in Moo 12, Ban Non Bok, Sarika Subdistrict, Mueang District, Nakhon Nayok Province. Officials quickly responded to guide the elephants back to the wild and to assess the damage.
Mr. Sunthorn Chantharasom, assistant village headman and deputy head of the wild elephant deterrent team in Ban Non Bok, Village No. 12, reported that the situation began with a single unidentified wild elephant foraging in a villager's garden. This elephant broke down the fence and soon met two more wild elephants, bringing the total to three. After causing the damage, the elephants retreated through the same path they used to enter and disappeared into the wilderness.
Upon surveying the aftermath, officials discovered that the iron gate and the garden's fence were damaged. Officers from Khao Yai National Park Protection Unit 14 promptly assisted in repairing the iron gate, restoring it to functionality. Efforts are underway to expedite the repairs of the concrete wall and fence posts to prevent further incidents.
