Bangkok: Worasit Liengprasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, has directed an urgent investigation into alleged fraudulent activities at a childcare center on Koh Phangan. This directive was issued to the Surat Thani governor and the district chief following claims on a Facebook page that the center had previously been shut down due to licensing issues but had reopened under a different name.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Worasit addressed concerns raised by the Facebook page "Suea Thuean" about a daycare center in Koh Phangan, Surat Thani province. The page alleged that the facility, which had been inspected and closed due to licensing problems, had resumed operations under a new identity. In response, Mr. Worasit ordered an immediate investigation into the center's licensing, operations, and compliance with legal regulations. He emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation to resolve public doubts and ensure transparency.
Mr. Worasit stressed that if the investigation finds any legal non-compliance, swift action should be taken by the provincial and district authorities. Conversely, if the center is operating legally, the findings should be communicated to the public to prevent misunderstandings. He highlighted the need to examine several critical issues, such as the impact of the name change on the original license and any changes in the business operator or rights holder. Additionally, he called for a review of previous inspections and orders, asserting that the authorities must be able to provide clear answers regarding the licenses and legal compliance.
The Deputy Minister underscored the importance of rigorous oversight of facilities involving children, pointing out that beyond licensing, these establishments must ensure safety and welfare to maintain parental confidence. He instructed officials to promptly report their findings, including facts and legal action plans, to address public concerns with factual information. Mr. Worasit concluded by emphasizing that investigations must be comprehensive, with rapid reporting and closure of any identified loopholes.
