Sepang: The Yamaha Thailand Racing Team has made a triumphant return to Thailand after an impressive performance at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. They clinched the overall championship title in the Asia Production 250cc (AP250) class during Round 5 of the 2026 FIM Asia Road Racing Championship.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Ukrit Pakvivat, Senior Vice President of Commercial and Marketing Planning at Thai Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., greeted the victorious team upon their return. The team, led by General Manager of Motorsports Mr. Veerapong Thanakitjanon, was celebrated for their remarkable achievements at the event.
'Idea' Kritphat Khueankham, a promising young racer from Yamaha Thailand Racing Team, showcased a stellar performance in the AP250 class. Riding a YZF-R3, he secured first place in both races at Sepang, which led to him clinching the 2026 Asian Championship in the AP250 class. He finished a significant 79 points ahead of the runner-up, underscoring his dominant presence on the track. This victory also marks the Yamaha Thailand Racing Team's 8th Asian Championship title, further solidifying their legacy in Asian motorsports.
In the SuperSports 600cc (SS600) class, 'Tee' Anupap Samul demonstrated consistent excellence with his YZF-R6 racing bike. He secured second and third places in the two races, keeping his championship aspirations alive. Currently trailing the leader by just 3 points, 'Tee' sets the stage for an exciting championship decider at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram province.
The final showdown of the FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2026 will take place from December 4-6, 2026, at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, where the champions will be crowned.
