Yotsanu Addresses Speculation on Thaksin’s Role in Pheu Thai Party Management

Bangkok: Yotsanu Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, recently addressed questions regarding his role in managing the Pheu Thai Party alongside Paetongtarn Shinawatra. This inquiry arose from comments made by Ms. Pintongta Shinawatra, daughter of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Pintongta suggested that Mr. Thaksin had entrusted both Mr. Yotsanu and Ms. Paetongtarn with overseeing the party's operations. Mr. Yotsanu clarified that the Cabinet retains full authority over national administration, with each member diligently fulfilling their responsibilities. He emphasized that the party's administrative structure, which includes advisors, is functioning effectively under Ms. Paetongtarn's leadership.

Questions were raised about Thaksin Shinawatra's potential withdrawal from party involvement. Mr. Yotsanu reiterated that the Cabinet is operating with full capacity and that party administration adheres to established regulations, with Ms. Paetongtarn actively serving as an advisor.

Regarding political negotiations and decision-making authority with Ms. Paetongtarn, Mr. Yotsanu expressed his commitment to advancing the country and working collaboratively within the party's framework.

When questioned about his prospects of becoming the leader of the Pheu Thai Party, Mr. Yotsanu stated that he has no such ambition. He highlighted the party's recent restructuring, which he believes positions it well for future progress.

Finally, in response to queries about seeking advice from Mr. Thaksin, Mr. Yotsanu explained that both national governance and party management follow established procedures and rules, independent of Mr. Thaksin's direct involvement.
