Bangkok: 176 gamblers have been arrested and sent to the Don Mueang District Court. The Metropolitan Police Bureau Division 2 is preparing to expand the investigation into the financial trail. If the amount exceeds 5 million baht, the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) will seize the assets.
According to Thai News Agency, investigators from Don Mueang Police Station have arrested 176 suspects in a gambling case and sent them to the Don Mueang District Court after police raided a gambling den in Soi Songprapa 1. Three private buses were hired from Pathum Thani Province to facilitate the transportation of the large number of suspects to the court.
During the process of transporting the suspects to the vehicle, police were on high alert to prevent any disturbances or escape. All suspects were then separated and transported to their respective vehicles.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Jessada Suaysom, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 2, revealed progress in the case. Following the arrest, the investigation is underway to track the financial activity of the suspect and his entire network. If any movement of funds exceeding 5 million baht is found, the matter will be referred to the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) for immediate asset seizure to prevent the transfer or concealment of illegally obtained assets.
As for the casino owner, who plays a key role, investigators are currently gathering evidence to consider issuing an arrest warrant. They also plan to offer a reward for information leading to the casino owner's arrest and prosecution.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Jessada reiterated that he will expedite and take action in a straightforward manner, not just prosecuting the gamblers themselves, but also extending the investigation to those behind the scenes and those involved in the operation of the gambling den.
