Lidol: Authorities are hunting for suspects who planted a 20 kg bomb that exploded in the water pumping system of a subdistrict administrative organization in Lidol. Update on the incident where perpetrators planted a 20 kg bomb near a solar panel system installed in a water pumping project of the Lidol Subdistrict Administrative Organization.
According to Thai News Agency, security officials, along with forensic teams and EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) personnel, inspected the site of a solar-powered water pumping project in Lidol Subdistrict, Mueang District, Yala Province, after a loud explosion was reported late last night. At the scene, more than 10 solar panels were found damaged by the blast. Nearby, the control panel for the water pumping system was found burned and damaged, along with oil-soaked rags used by the perpetrators.
Preliminary findings indicate that the perpetrators used an improvised explosive device (IED) made from a fire extinguisher, containing explosives and cut rebar, weighing a total of 20 kilograms. The device was set with a timer, and the IED was used to set the fire. After the attack, the perpetrators, using their knowledge of the area, escaped. Authorities have cordoned off the area to collect DNA and latent fingerprints to aid in the apprehension of the suspects.
