Bangkok: Chaiyanok Chidchob, Minister of Digital Economy and Society and Secretary-General of the Bhumjaithai Party, has addressed circulating rumors regarding a potential shift in political allegiances, specifically the "green faction defecting to blue." He has emphasized the stability and security of the current government, dismissing any need for incorporating additional parties at this time.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Chaiyanok responded to speculations that 10 Members of Parliament from the Kla Tham Party, led by Ms. Boonying Nitikanchana, the MP for Ratchaburi, might join the Bhumjaithai Party in an effort to bolster the government's majority. Mr. Chaiyanok reassured that the government's stability is well-founded, not only due to his party's contributions but also because of the support from coalition partners. He reiterated that there have been no discussions or considerations about strengthening the government's majority through new party alliances.
When questioned about the necessity of involving other parties, Mr. Chaiyanok confirmed that there is no current need for such actions. He also addressed the topic of a possible cabinet reshuffle, referencing a statement by the party secretary-general that suggested a one-year timeframe as appropriate for assessing ministerial performance. Mr. Chaiyanok clarified that this does not imply an imminent reshuffle but allows ministers the opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities. He stressed that while some results can be achieved swiftly, others require more time due to varying ministerial responsibilities. The ultimate decision regarding any reshuffle will be made by the Prime Minister based on his evaluation of the ministers' performances.
In response to further inquiries about the alleged defection of the Kla Tham Party to the Bhumjaithai Party, Mr. Chaiyanok expressed uncertainty regarding the source of these rumors. Nonetheless, he maintained that the Bhumjaithai Party already exhibits significant stability and security, negating the necessity for additional support from other parties.
