Nonthaburi: NIA (National Innovation Agency) is moving forward with building Thailand's Climate Tech ecosystem, accelerating innovation among entrepreneurs from "potential technologies to viable businesses" through the Climate X 2026 Demo Day, pushing Thailand towards a low-carbon economy and a Net Zero goal.
According to Thai News Agency, the National Innovation Agency (NIA), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), in collaboration with its network partners, organized the 'Climate X 2026 Demo Day' on September 10, 2026, at the Amber Meeting Rooms, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi Province. This event served as a crucial platform to showcase the capabilities of 14 Climate Tech innovation companies that had undergone intensive development throughout the project, encompassing technology, business model strategy and development, market access, and preparation for business expansion. It also provided opportunities to connect with industry, investors, funding sources, and business partners, ensuring the practical application and sustainable commercialization of their innovations. Dr. Kritphaka Boonfueng, Director of the National Innovation Agency, presided over the opening ceremony, along with Mr. Pariwat Wongsamran, Deputy Director for Inn ovation Systems at NIA, and representatives from the government, private sector, industry, investors, experts, and network partners.
Dr. Kritphaka Boonpheung, Director of NIA, stated, 'Climate Change is not just an environmental issue, but a global economic issue.' Climate change is now not merely an environmental concern but is directly impacting economic systems, industries, energy, agriculture, and business operations worldwide. At the same time, the transition to a low-carbon economy and Net Zero goals is creating both new challenges and business opportunities.
NIA, as the focal conductor of innovation in Thailand, aims to drive the innovation system through the Groom - Grant - Growth - Global mechanism. This encompasses entrepreneurship incubation and development, funding for innovation development, creating market access opportunities, and propelling Thai businesses to grow and expand internationally. For Climate Tech, NIA prioritizes creating an ecosystem that connects entrepreneurs with industry, government agencies, investors, and partner networks. This ensures that innovation doesn't stop at the technological development stage, but must be practically applicable, have a market, generate revenue, and grow into a sustainable business. 'Climate X 2026' is designed to be more than just an incubation program; it's a mechanism to accelerate the growth of innovative businesses, enabling entrepreneurs to develop 'technology' alongside 'business,' while providing opportunities for real-world technology testing, collaboration, access to funding, and market expansion. Th e key goal is to propel entrepreneurs from 'good innovation' to 'a viable and growing business.'
14 Climate Tech companies participating in Climate X 2026 showcase key technologies for the transition to a low-carbon economy across various fields. These include renewable energy and energy storage, carbon capture and utilization, green mobility and future fuels, sustainable materials and the circular economy, and sustainable digital technologies. Throughout the program, participants gain capacity in technology, strategy and business model development, market access, and scaling preparation. They receive guidance from experts and stakeholders from diverse sectors, as well as opportunities to connect with industry, investors, and business partners to test technologies, forge collaborations, access funding, and further develop into future markets.
A panel of qualified experts made decisions and provided recommendations, including Dr. Benjawan Mungraksatham from InnoSpace (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Mr. Jirasak Kongsakulthap from Borploy Energy, Mr. Taweesak Sirisueb from Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), Mr. Rat Ruangchotevitvit from the Department of Climate Change and Environment, Ms. Suman Sumethcheongprachya from Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, Dr. Amphol Apathanakorn from NIA, and Dr. Suwanit Boonyasuwatt from PTT Global Chemical Public Company Limited who participated online.
Chalupas and Co., Ltd. won two major awards: the CLIMATE X GRAND PRIZE and the CLIMATE X POPULAR CHOICE AWARD, presented by Dr. Amphol Apathanakorn and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hathaitip Sindhuya, respectively. PJC Composite Co., Ltd. and Timothy Corporate Co., Ltd. were also among the highlighted companies, with awards presented by Mr. Taweesak Sirisueb and Dr. Benjawan Mungraksatham.
Dr. Kritphaka further stated that NIA expects entrepreneurs participating in Climate X 2026 will be able to leverage the knowledge, experience, and networks gained from the project to build strong and growing businesses, while simultaneously creating a positive impact on the environment and society. NIA will continue to play a role in connecting all sectors to create an ecosystem that enables Thai Climate Tech entrepreneurs to practically implement their technologies, access markets and funding sources, and enhance their competitiveness.
