Jahodn: Russia is believed to be aiming to attack the former UK Prime Minister. Russia attacked a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border, in an area traveled by a former British Prime Minister after a visit to Ukraine, leading to speculation that the attack may have been deliberate.
According to Thai News Agency, the attack occurred near the border town of Jahodn. Fortunately, all passengers on the train had been evacuated beforehand, so no one was injured. However, the area was one that had recently been passed through on its way to Poland, carrying former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, former CIA director David Petraeus, and other European national security advisors.
Russia has claimed the attack was on "railway infrastructure" in western Ukraine, but Ukrainian railway companies believe it's highly probable the drone targeted Prime Minister Johnson's train, as it departed earlier than scheduled due to the Russian threat. The train itself was evacuated just 15 minutes before the Russian drone struck and exploded.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Johnson posted that Russia was carrying out senseless attacks that Ukrainians face daily, even on railways, and called on allies to urgently provide the air defense systems that Ukrainians need. Petraeus told the media, "This is a truly brutal act by a leader attempting to commit terrorism against Ukrainian civilians."
Prior to that, the two, along with other senior European security advisors, attended the Yalta European Strategy Summit in Kyiv, Ukraine, an annual meeting that brings together leaders and experts from the political, business, security, and media sectors.
In recent months, there have been attacks in several countries that are suspected to be the work of Russia. For example, last week, Germany stated that Russia was responsible for the August attack on Leipzig airport. There have also been several suspicious fires at military facilities, such as in Italy and Estonia.
