Hong kong: 'Jia Jia' and 'De De', the first twin giant panda cubs born in Hong Kong, celebrated their second birthday today with a special bamboo-based meal, amidst enthusiastic cheers from fans at Ocean Park Hong Kong. The caretakers arranged bamboo stalks to form a special birthday message for the twins, while many visitors gathered to watch them enjoy their meal in a celebratory atmosphere. An ice birthday cake was also prepared.
According to Thai News Agency, during this celebration, 'Ing Ing,' the mother, also joined the frame. 'Ing Ing' made history in 2024 as the oldest giant panda mother to give birth to a cub at the age of 19. This rare reunion of the family brought great joy to viewers, as giant panda cubs typically begin to live independently from their mothers around three years old. Therefore, the image of the three-mother and cubs-together was especially special.
Fans revealed that they felt proud to see the star pandas, born and raised in Hong Kong, grow up. Many brought handmade gifts and souvenirs to congratulate them on this occasion, expressing their hopes that 'Jia Jia' and 'De De' would grow up healthy and strong as one of the city's most beloved animal pairs.
