Chonburi: A motorcycle thief was apprehended after the owner orchestrated a sting operation, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrest of the suspect.
According to Thai News Agency, the incident unfolded when the motorcycle's owner, alongside his friends, managed to catch the thief who had advertised the stolen motorcycle for sale on social media. The owner strategically planned a meeting under the guise of purchasing the vehicle, which culminated in the successful apprehension of the suspect at the agreed location. The police were subsequently called to take the thief into custody.
Mr. Chatchawan, a friend of the motorcycle owner Mr. Praphas, shared details of the incident. On the morning of September 9th, the motorcycle was stolen from a location in front of a row of shops in Soi Ruam Suk 5, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province. A police report was filed at Nong Prue Police Station shortly after the theft.
Later that day, a younger acquaintance discovered the motorcycle listed for sale on social media for 22,000 baht and alerted the owner. Recognizing the motorcycle as his own, the owner initiated contact with the seller, who claimed the motorcycle was legally registered, though the registration book was supposedly held by a finance company.
The owner arranged to purchase the motorcycle, sending a deposit of 10,000 baht, and scheduled a delivery for the following day, September 10, 2026. When someone arrived to deliver the motorcycle, the owner and his friends quickly apprehended the individual. The delivery person alleged he was merely paid to deliver the motorcycle and was unaware of its stolen status. However, the owner and his friends were skeptical of this claim and contacted the authorities, leading to the suspect's arrest and subsequent legal proceedings.
