Onlooker Hit by Pickup Truck in Secondary Accident in Nakhon Si Thammarat

Nakhon si thammarat: A serious secondary accident occurred on the Nakhon-Pak Phanang road in Mueang District, leading to a cautionary tale about the dangers of onlookers. A pedestrian, crossing the street to observe an initial road accident, was struck by a pickup truck, resulting in severe injuries and entrapment beneath the vehicle. A passing crane played a crucial role in the rescue efforts.

According to Thai News Agency, rescuers from the Tai Teck Tung Foundation and the Pracharomjai Foundation promptly responded to the scene to assist the injured individual. The initial incident involved a collision between a motorcycle and a pickup truck. However, the situation escalated when the motorcyclist, attempting to view the accident, was hit by another pickup truck and became trapped underneath.

The injured man, estimated to be around 40 years old, required immediate and complex rescue operations. In a fortunate turn of events, a crane from Baan Ohm Crane Company arrived at the scene and utilized its equipment to lift the pickup truck, enabling the rescuers to extricate the man. Following his release, rescuers administered CPR and swiftly transported him to Maharaj Nakorn Si Thammarat Hospital for further treatment.

Police investigations revealed that the secondary accident occurred before rescue workers could attend to the initial collision. The injured individual, a local villager, was attempting to cross the road to witness the aftermath of the primary accident when he was struck by the pickup truck. This incident underscores the risks associated with onlookers at accident scenes. The villagers expressed their gratitude to the rescue workers for their prompt action, and the volunteer crane operator, "Ban Ohm," who happened to pass by, was also commended for assisting in the critical rescue operation.
